The Need is Real and It’s Growing.
Too many adults in our region are working hard, raising families, and doing their best, yet they live without access to basic healthcare. For uninsured individuals, one injury, diagnosis, or prescription can become overwhelming. Preventive care is delayed. Small problems turn into emergencies. And the impact stretches beyond each patient, affecting families, workplaces, and the entire community.

Uninsured Adults in Our Region Are Falling Through the Cracks
Matthew 25 exists for people who don’t qualify for Medicaid and can’t afford private insurance. In Allen County alone, 26,200 uninsured adults currently live without Medicaid coverage, and Matthew 25 serves 7,000 of them today. Across Northeast Indiana, 13% of adults are uninsured, and recent Medicaid changes have only increased the need. For many, healthcare isn’t a choice between “good” and “better”, it’s a choice between care or no care at all.
These Are Our Neighbors
The people Matthew 25 serves are not defined by their lack of insurance. They are members of our community who simply need support during a vulnerable season of life. Patients include:
- Adults 18+ living in poverty despite being employed
- Individuals working multiple part-time jobs without benefits
- Self-employed workers who don’t have employer coverage
- Small business owners who are over-income for Medicaid but cannot afford premiums, deductibles, and medications
- Immigrants working toward U.S. citizenship
- People experiencing major life transitions like divorce or job loss
- People between jobs who need help affording medications temporarily
- Farmers with significant assets but limited cash flow
These are hardworking people doing their best—often quietly—while carrying burdens most of us never see.

When People Delay Care, Everyone Pays
When individuals don’t have access to healthcare, they often wait until symptoms become severe. Chronic conditions worsen. Preventable illnesses go untreated. Mental health needs go unaddressed. Eventually, emergency rooms become the only option—creating higher costs and heavier strain on hospitals and public systems.Â
Matthew 25 helps prevent that cycle by offering free, compassionate care that restores stability before a crisis occurs.

Matthew 25 Is Meeting the Need, But Demand Keeps Rising
Matthew 25 is already providing extraordinary impact with limited resources. The clinic operates on a $2.9 million budget, yet the market value of services provided to patients in 2024 reflects the scale and importance of this mission.Â
Matthew 25 is not just responding to a need—it is filling a vital gap in the healthcare safety net through a model built on generosity, partnerships, and dignity-driven care.
Looking Ahead: The Future Need Will Be Even Greater
The need in our community isn’t slowing down. Growth projections show the demand will continue increasing due to:Â
- Natural population growth in Allen CountyÂ
- Growth of the uninsured populationÂ
- The ability to reach additional patients who already exist but aren’t yet being served
This is why expansion matters, because healthcare access in our region must keep pace with real-life community need.
This Is More Than Healthcare—It’s Hope
When someone receives timely, compassionate care, they are more likely to stay healthy, remain employed, care for their family, and move forward with strength. When individuals thrive, our entire community becomes healthier and stronger.
And that’s why Matthew 25’s work is not only necessary, it’s essential.
